Important Participant Information
Tawang is situated at high altitude, and participants should be medically and physically fit to undertake the challenge. Adequate acclimatization before the event is strongly recommended and is an important part of preparing for the marathon.
Participants are required to follow all instructions issued by the organizers, race officials, course marshals and volunteers throughout the event.

Qualification Requirements
Participation in the Tawang Marathon requires participants to be physically fit and capable of adapting to the high-altitude conditions of Tawang.
Marathon – 42.195 KM
Participants should preferably have completed either:
- One full marathon within 6 hours during the preceding 1 year; OR
- Two half marathons within 3 hours each during the preceding 2 years, with at least one completed within the preceding 1 year.
Participants must provide details and valid finisher certificates of previous races as proof of eligibility at the time of registration.
Half Marathon – 21.097 KM
Participants should preferably have completed either:
- One half marathon within 3 hours during the preceding 1 year; OR
- Two 10 KM runs within 1 hour 30 minutes each during the preceding 2 years, with at least one completed within the preceding 1 year.
Valid finisher certificates must be provided as proof of eligibility.
10 KM Run
Participants should preferably have completed either:
- Two 10 KM runs within 1 hour 30 minutes each during the preceding 2 years, with at least one completed within the preceding 1 year; OR
- One half marathon within 3 hours during the preceding 1 year.
Valid finisher certificates must be provided as proof of eligibility.
5 KM Run
No previous race qualification is required. Participants should, however, be in sound physical condition and capable of adapting to high-altitude conditions.
Important
- Participants in the Marathon, Half Marathon and 10 KM categories must submit details of their previous qualifying races along with valid finisher certificates.
- Submitted certificates and eligibility information are subject to verification by the organisers.
- Participants must be medically and physically fit to participate in a high-altitude endurance event.
- Acclimatization in Tawang is strongly recommended and is an essential part of preparing for the event.
- The organisers reserve the right to reject an entry if the eligibility documentation or information provided is found to be incorrect.
Participants are required to collect their BIB in person prior to race day. Detailed BIB and kit collection dates, venue and timings will be communicated by the organisers.
Prize Money
The Tawang Marathon 2026 offers a total prize pool of ₹60,10,000, distributed across the Full Marathon, Half Marathon, 10 KM Run and 5 KM Run.
Prize money is applicable to both Male and Female participants in the respective Open and Age Group categories.

Prize Money Eligibility & Terms
- Race-day results will be considered provisional. Final results will be declared after verification.
- Prize money will be awarded only to participants who meet all applicable eligibility requirements.
- Participants must complete their respective race within the prescribed cut-off time:
- 42.195 KM: 7 hours
- 21.097 KM: 3 hours 30 minutes
- 10 KM: 2 hours
- 5 KM: 1 hour
- Participants seeking prize money must cross the starting mat within 15 minutes of the official flag-off.
- Age-category positions will be determined based on net finish time.
- Timing records at the designated checkpoints, including the start and finish mats, must be valid.
- Any participant found exchanging or using another participant's BIB/timing tag will be disqualified and will not be eligible for prize money.
- Prize winners may be required to provide additional proof of identity and age for verification.
- Final prize-money entitlement is subject to verification and the decision of the event organisers.
- The organisers reserve the right to disqualify participants who violate race rules or eligibility conditions.
